Mastaphixa
I am disassembling the engine on my '58 TR3A and am pondering replacement of the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets. What is the criteria for inspection of the sprockets to determine re-use vs. replacement? Thanks in advance for your time. Steve
RogerH
Hi Steve, welcome to the forum How many miles has the engine done with these sprockets? The sprockets can wear. The cam will take twice the time as the crank sprocket. Seeing the wear isn't the easiest thing. If you look at the profile of new tooth it isn't just a semi-circle but towards the tooth tip the circle flares towards the tip. When it wears this flaring will reduce and become a wider semi-circle. If in doubt change them - not that expensive. But they should last 2 or 3 100,000 miles Roger
