solenoid position on RHD Tr250

Recommended Posts

I am converting my TR250 to RHD. The solenoid was originally positioned above the right hand side footwell in a position now occupied by the clutch master cylinder support bracket.

I am proposing to make a bracket so that my solenoid can be shifted slightly towards the centre of the car in a position parallel to the clutch support bracket but       am curious to know how others have dealt with this matter.

I have looked for the solenoid on my TR6 but cannot see it!

Any contributions will be gratefully received

Cheers

Mike

Thats not an original position anyway I dont think, if you look at the right hand battery hold down bracket there should be two holes to mount it on the right outer side of that bracket.

Also dont forget to move the captive nut that you can just see on the left of the battery tray area in that picture to the other side as its for the dash support bracket.

there is no correct position for a RHD 250 , it’s Uk equivalent Tr5 used a pre engage starter as did the Tr6  so it can go where you wish.

See my answer above ;) for 250 with inertia starter.

Thanks all for your input. I had not thought of moving that captive nut!

Lots dont and then curse when fitting it all back together on a fresh painted shell;)

and of course my tub is freshly painted!....oh well !!

Rawl-nuts or riv-nuts if you have a closing tool.  Then and a dob of paint.

Rawlnuts are nice as they only require the hole to fit in and self tighten.

As used on TR5/6 washer bottle mounting brackets to body

Still need to drill a hole though, I would just drill the hole, touch the paint in and then nut and bolt it with the help of AN other.
