Rally prepared TR3A for sale

Recommended Posts

I am posting this on behalf of motoring journalist Andrew English.

Triumph TR3A. Fully restored car prepared for road rallies, but great fun as a road car. Right-hand-drive, UK-supplied model, which was first registered in 1960. This powder-blue car is well known in TR circles, known as Yoo Hoo she's a long history of wins. Victorious in the B & I Tour of Ireland, the Rally des Pyrenees and the 2019 Liège-Brescia-Liège. Fast, and a formidable tool for testing the strength of your trophy shelf brackets, or just enjoying for a good blast.

Meticulously maintained, with no expense spared. It was completely rebuilt a few years ago with a much strengthened and modified powder-coated chassis and rebuilt body. Rebuilt and tuned but tractable 2.2-litre engine, with roller rockers, competition aluminium flywheel and clutch, new SU carburettors and new stainless-steel extractor manifold and exhaust system. The gearbox and overdrive have been rebuilt and strengthened by a known specialist with an uprated competition overdrive with larger ratio drop. Uprated and modified brakes, suspension and steering. New wire wheels and Michelin tyres, new hood and side screens with tonneau cover, boot rack, radiator stone guard, spot lamps and works-style reversing lamp. Branz rally clocks and navigation lamps also fitted and working. Documented build, dyno readings and lots of provenance, including original log book and bills. Set of spare wire wheels with Yokohamas in vgc and huge number of spares. MoT and tax exempt. Call for more information, any inspection welcomed.

I am glad to say that Andrew will still own a Triumph - but it is a GT6.   Ian Cornish

Apart from GDPR issues, the moderators should remove the address and telephone numbers or the next thing we'll be hearing about is the cars been nicked, then someone's feet will be held to the fire......

Edit: I've reported it to the Mods.

Cheers, Andrew

I think this is the car Andrew had when an Essex Group member, looking for a picture but most of them not scanned in and in heaps in a wardrobe!

Hi Mike,

well I purchased the car and have been loving getting out and about in it.

managed to find a lot of history on the car from some of her previous owners.

do you have any info that you wouldn’t mind sharing, even just recollections.

pm me if appropriate

cheers

Neil

Neil,

Great news! Congratulations! Have you thought of putting together the history for us lesser forumites? It would be fascinating to see the photos and memories in this thread.

The Forum's the new TR Register Archive. The old one will catch up, eventually too. With a little help from our friends.

Ciao,

David

There’s a few others!

Yes, I hadn't seen all of them. What a fantastic buy.

Worth keeping, I'd say, driving, competing. What's the engine bay like?
