wing beading lower front?

Recommended Posts

Hi Roger,

none of the parts sellers have it in the catalog, as far as I know....only the lower rear is listed...

Yesterday i noticed it for the first time .... (in 30 years time, that i have that flyer....)

So maybe it was never went into production.

Marcel.

Hi, I have the lower chrome trim on my 4a on the front lower wing. As you say not listed with the sellers of TR  bits and bobs. I have also just had a look at photos of other TR4 / TR4a and they don’t seem to have them fitted. Looking at mine they look like rears that have been cut down to size as the top part is rounded and the bottom is just cut at an angle to follow the front valence and lower wing.

I purchased the Triumph Parts Books for TR4, TR4A and TR5 early in the 1970s when I was Technical Editor, and in nowhere is there listed or depicted a chrome strip for the lower section of the front wing - just 850479 & 850480 for left and right on the upper section of the front wing.

+1 on the catalogue reference.

Over many years of selling wing bead and other spares, it was not uncommon for customers to request it,  I would suggest they cobble a short rear bit of beading to fit.  At no point did anyone slap an old one on the counter and demand a new replacement, not even the specialist rebuilders!
