Does anybody recognise this battery clamp bar? It came with the car and was on the car when the 2nd owner bought the car in 1966. I am the 3rd owner and believe there is a good chance it is of an original type.

Maybe it's my eyesight but it looks more like a bit of old angle-iron to me.

Doesn't the genuine bar have the holes for the screwed rod drilled through the very corner of the angle, not through one of the flat bits.

I agree with Charlie John. The original battery clamp on my 4A has the holes drilled through the corners. Of course the TR2 clamp might have been different so I looked at the road  test of OHP 771 in the Autocar of 8th January 1954 and the engine compartment shot clearly shows the clamp rods going through the corners, see images.

Not what I would describe as original Triumph.   Looks like a local modification away from UK factory original spec.   Are there any other antipodean TR2 s with similar?  Could have been an importer’s spec.

Bob, image below (Autocar dated 11th January 1957) shows the original clamps on TR3 SKV 656 the be same as on the TR2.

Thanks all. I'll replace it for aesthetic reasons.
