TR250 Alternator identification

Recommended Posts

Hi Eddie,

More information is required from your alternator, they initially had a metal tag attached to one of the clamping bolts and this denoted the model and part numbers.

The first cars in 1968 were fitted with a 15AC alternator, part number 23544 A/D and this required a control box 4TR, part number 37527 A.

The 1969 cars are listed as having a 15ACR alternator, part number 23562 A.

Any visible marking on your alternator...?

Regards, Richard

Yours Looks like a Lucas ACR type alternator.

This is the 15AC unit.  Note part plastic part aluminium back end.

Thanks everyone  for the replies.

The only markings on the alternator apart from  LUCAS is a sticker saying remanufactured in Japan.

I have taken the plastic cover off and attach a picture.

The closest I have found on the Internet  is 18ACR on an MG with a note to ignore the offset terminal.

Unless someone comes up with a different idea I will  wire up like that .

Thanks Eddie

Yes that is an ACR type Eddie - the regulator is the square box at the bottom in your photo with the wires coming out of it.  The output is on both of the wide spades and the top thin spade is the warning light connection.  The two other connection points on the lower right are not used, as you say.
