Malbaby
I currently have 195.65.15, but wish to lighten the steering effort. Sizes near to factory diameter size are 175.70.15....not available here in Australia. 185.70.15...only available in very expensive brands. Original sized 165.80.15 are available, but I am concerned with the not ideal fitting on the 5.5" rims....anyone fitted the same? Comments welcomed.
ctc77965o
165/80 fits a 5.5" rim fine... That steering effort is also braking effectiveness...
Motorsport Mickey
Thats quite a well known fitment for those that know. The 165 is stretched nicely onto the 5.5" rims and the sidewalls are stiffened by it which promotes a nice tyre profile to the road, gives perhaps the best handling template for the car...but you'll only find it when you use it. Lebro
+1 for 165/80. I was doubtful until I tried them - they fit just fine , & do not look wrong. Bob.
BlueTR3A-5EKT
165/80x15 tyre on 5.5 J rim is original standard fitment for TR6 PI.
Bleednipple
Okay here's a question for the tyre and handling experts. Comparing a 165/80 with a 165/65 on a TR. The latter is the same tread width (obvs) but about 2 inches/8% smaller diameter. What difference in real world handling would be expected on the 65 profile tyre, versus the full profile version? (Ignore the acceleration difference due to different gearing, and one inch lower ground clearance). Nigel
