RogerH Posted March 22, 2021 Report Share Posted March 22, 2021 Hi John, Royal blue is quite a light colour. The TRiumph royal blue is more like a navy. Your car on the right looks like a correct Royal blue but not TRiumph Royal blue. Some aerosol cans can have a purple sheen as if aged. Here is mine Roger Quote Link to post Share on other sites
qkingston Posted March 22, 2021 Report Share Posted March 22, 2021 As Stuart will probably tell us, if you ask for a standard 56 Triumph Royal Blue using modern pigments it can have a purple hue to it, Ken & Lyn Paints developed a slightly darker shade for Stuart's car which is what I have just received from Ken David Quote Link to post Share on other sites

stuart Posted March 22, 2021 Report Share Posted March 22, 2021 We`ve been through this lots of times over the years, my 4a is painted Royal Blue as was mixed for it back in the very early nineties from tinter schemes that had been in use for at least thirty years before that, its a proper dark blue with very little purple tint to it. Bear in mind this was a mixed colour using the tints that were available back then. Since then Ive had lots of people ask for this colour hence why working with Ken of Ken and Lyn paints we have developed a specific mix that is achievable with modern tinters and if you ask for it using my name then Ken can supply this, Its actually based on Triumph Royal blue with no code whereas if you ask for Triumph Royal blue code 56 you will get a much more purple colour this I believe is due to 1 the change of tinters over the years and 2 the difference between the code and no code colour.
