And with a closer look yesterday evening,

the hooks are fine, this @%$%!!?@ rivets from Rimmer Bros. make me very sad....

Male and female the same diameter and too short even to reach through the double loop of the hook....

BTW, this is the pliers (from "Prym") to set the poppers

You can change the inserts, this are the ones to punch the holes, but the pliers is a bit weak for this massive textile

The inserts to press the poppers worked very well and with only little force

"Prym" is a badge for sewing haberdashery parts.

You can buy the "Prym Vario" pliers everywhere (eBay, Amazon), it comes with the inserts to make holes.

But as I told above it is not strong enough the make holes in the very solid textile of the soft top.

Next time I better try a awl.

The inserts for the poppers come with every set of "Prym" poppers or rivets.

But I bought different ones from the supplier "IstaBreeze" / Germany via eBay.

To press the poppers the pliers works very well and save you from using a hammer on the car.

(I know there are some guys out there who love to use a hammer on cars....)

I'm very impressed with my TR6 hood on my TR4A from Don's Hoods. Love the velcro and the car is water tight for the first time in many years. Superb quality.

Hi,

I don't trust elastic, so I fitted springs with two selfmade "rivets", my wife will sew that on the flaps, I hope this works.

The stops for the frame I made new from walking sticks rubbers, that worked well.

Mind your fingers in the springs Marco, plus you may find the rattle or scratch the side windows. I used door stop rubbers for the frame stops.

Hi Stuart,

thank you for that, when i fit it inside the "flaps" the sprink will not contact the windows?

And the spring is not stronger than an elastic, so it cannnot hurt me.

But with the both straps attached tho the hood frame I have doubts this hook gives more benefits, a drive yesterday without was lovely.

The elastic strap is a carry over from the TR4 hood as it didn’t have that inside strap, it does hold the flap section tighter against the window though

Hi Stuart,

thank you for that information, means the TR4A hood has no elastic to the window frame?

But I have the hook there behind the window seal.....A 100 km drive today with the hood closes - windows opened - workes lovely.
