PodOne
Hi all Debating which way to go as my cast manifold has lost a ear so I won't be able to get a good seal so need a replacement. The car won't be seeing a track so given the significant cost of a "Phoenix" tubular type manifold is it worth it and are the gains in flow noticeable and all that better than the OEM cast? Is the cast TR6 manifold the best one or is another one from the triumph saloon, 250, TR5 or later carbureted TR6 cars any better/worse? The rest of the exhaust is a near new double sports exhaust acquired from a fellow formite a while ago. Thanks Andy
Peter V W
Hi Andy, Standard Tr5/6 cast iron manifold with twin outlets is the best fit. For road use no need for the hassle of fitting aftermarket manifolds.
Andy Moltu
Some are better than others. Tried 3 different tubulars in 33 year of 6 ownership. The first was marginally better than the cast on a standard engine. The next was the “bunch of bananas” which, on a hot engine made a difference at 4000+ rpm on a hotter engine The current rather spidery 6:3:1 is the best yet across the whole rev range but not exactly cheap.
