markaluge
I am fitting new rubber mountings to the windscreen wiper motor mounting bracket. The old ones were perished and fell apart. Does anyone have a technique for getting the new rubber bushes through the holes on the bracket please? Mark
Rodbr
Try soaking them in boiling water to soften and some KY jelly and push one edge in a ease the bush into place and insert metal tube. Rod
markaluge
Thanks Rod, I have tried soaking in boiling water to soften the rubber; will see if I can find some gel!! Edited March 9, 2021 by markaluge
Rodbr
measure the diameter of the inset of the grommet and the hole in bracket, check the difference as they may never fit without a mod to the hole. use caliper or the dividers from a geometry set if you don't a caliper. markaluge
Success; not without one or two expletives. It was a case of softening the rubber in boiling water and then carefully working it through the hole. It looks good and hopefully is a task not to be repeated.
