Z320
Hi there, I like my mechanic petrol pump, it works without problems since I own the car (12 years). But today starting the engine the first time after months and thought this could be to time to fit one (stored) with a primer lever. And there it was agian, this @&%$§$!!@ rear upper nut, and this is what I made. (OK, I could use a 1/4" ratchet, short extension and 1/2" socket....) Ciao, Marco
stillp
Brilliant idea Marco! Pete
Efuentes
Mine (TR4A) already came with a primer lever. Is that a different one (TR4)?
Z320
I don't know, my petrol pump is an old aftermarket pump " made in Canada", they have been for any reason with and without lever. Adiós, Marco
AlanG
My 4A came with one of those pumps. Operating lever fell into the sump after 7 years! Have now fitted an original AC pump from Dave Davis and just rebuilt another AC pump as a spare. Aftermarket pumps are pants. Alan.
Z320
The main issue with the rebuilt sets is the missing pushrod seal to avoid petrol draining in the engine when the diaphragm is leak. (the so called "breather hole" is a petrol drain hole in my opinion....) If a leaking diaphragm is ever the case, I never heared about. Old rabbits here know better.... My very new aftermarket petrol pump has this seal, so sometimes the Chinese do a very well job. Edited February 21, 2021 by Z320
stuart
Those Canadian built pumps come up quite often on USA imports as they seem to have been the main aftermarket ones fitted over there, my 4a also had one as it was a US import. Stuart.
