Peter Douglas Winn
All over club age groups are getting older and older. Hence reluctance to actively support clubs. In Germany many of us would love to have some organised tours. As far as I know it is not permitted for a non profit making club. Mr Taxman says NO NO. So the individual groups must do their own thing. As I said times have changed and nowdays there are less and less persons willing to take on this job. What is the trick that lots of professional tours/trips are offered in the TR Magazine apparantly with TR Register backing? We perhaps could use the same tricks here. Or are the finance laws so different?
Mick Forey
The key to our ability to do this is that the TR Register does not directly organise the tours as it would start to act as a travel agent (defined in UK law). We use third parties who are recognised travel agents. TR Tours uses Travel Destinations, Classics on the Road and Classic Car Holidays. TR Trips is organised by Jonathan Bowles, an independent agent. All of these organisations are part of organisations like ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) or are bonded to give financial protection to the participant. This means that the club does not take on huge financial liabilities. The club solely acts as a recommender or promoter. It is a model that works well. Happy to give you more details, if you wish.
