However they are T speed rated and I don't think Vredestein make them in the correct H speed rate for the TR6 Dave Does the speed rating matter that much if i'm not going to go over 118mph? Looking to put my TR6 back to original size but can't bring myself to pay silly money. I'll replace my two 195 perished tyres with the same size if I can't find a reasonably priced 165 alternative. Mk2 Chopper
I use these, H rated 165's with a classic tread pattern similar to a Michelin XVS. Gareth Edited February 17, 2021 by Mk2 Chopper

I agree. Most insurers here have consigned the tire speed rating requirement to history. All available tires would easily meet our 110kmh speed limit. In Australia you would have more significant problems with your insurer than your tires if you had an accident at 118mph.

Gareth I use those as well but in 185 size as mine is an ex US car. They seem pretty good and reasonably priced as well. I've found them quite hard to get hold of though and bought the last one from a classic Citroen specialist.

Talk to your insurance company first before deciding. Personally I always run the highest speed rating I can find in the relevant size. Stuart.
DaveN
‘Perished tyres.’ You actually keep them long enough to perish? I bin mine after 5 years regardless how few miles.
Richmac
No I only bought the car last year and noticed slight cracking in the side wall a few weeks later. Do you re=boot in new Michelin at £1000 every five years?
