Painting Wheel Centres

Recommended Posts

I tried using U POL plastic paint as recommended on a couple of occasions both times it reacted and split. Gave up in the end and bought some new ones!

I’ve used “silver wheels” aerosol paint I think from Halfords, 5 years ago and still looks fine.

Me too, I got a can of silver spray paint from a motor factors. I did several thin coats to avoid runs.

I painted these silver around 8 years ago, think I used normal silver paint with clear lacquer, looks fine still.

I painted mine in matt black (i tried with satin but preferred the matt finish and it still leaves a slight shine) with a Halfords spray can. Just rubbed them down with a scourer pad, cleaned with white spirit and put on a few coats. These were a set of secondhand ones from ebay that were silver.

Edit:

Found the pictures of it.

Thanks Gareth,

Exactly what I was looking for. That’s the next few days taken care of :D.

Cool man, dry and warm(ish) out there today...I always have to wait till the weather is nice to do things like that. I did primer them as you can see, just to build up the layers and rub it down to get the best finish on the top coat.

Excellent outcome.

Good to see the windmill at Wimbledon Common again.

Thanks, I think the windmill at Wimbledon Common is a bit larger and prettier than this one, which is in Outwood, still a nice spot though and taken on Christmas day last year.

My mistake.

It was the flag pole that made me think it was Wimbledon.

Yes Wimbledon windmill is larger
