John Morrison
Hi all, have amember been doing some wiring and Alternator conversion on a 4A, He reports the following;- I have another problem...... I've just finished the wiring, put the battery lead on, and the ignition is on all the time ( warning light lit, fuel gauge reading, radio on, etc.). Turn the key to ignition position and the light goes out, etc., Ignition switch? John.

ctc77965o
reversed field and output wires? it depends a bit what type of alternator...how many wires? there are 1,2,& 3 wire types
RobH
If he has disturbed the connections on the ignition switch it is most likely due to that as Bob says. I don't think crossing anything to do with the charging circuit under the bonnet will not cause this, at least with standard wiring arrangement for a Lucas alternator. We need rather more detail to be able to help - what exactly has the chap been doing and is the wiring standard?
