Mazda MX5 kit : Build your own F1 Alfa 158

For those of you considering a facelift for your MX5 in 2021.

Ant Anstead's company 'Tipo184' is currently offering a starter kit for the conversion, consisting of the space frame chassis, body panels, exhaust and the frame for the instrument panel, for £8,499 + VAT.

I started to watch his tv series in this on Amazon prime but only the first episode was free

The pic with the wheel off (coil springs rather than the 158's transverse leaf, and discs inside dummy Alfin drums) is like discovering that Marilyn Munroe had had breast enhancements.

TRs already have a separate chassis. Would a few fabricated hoops, welded-on, fit those body panels ? Might need chassis edges hiding under "running boards" and body strip-sections to lengthen bonnet and/or tail to fit wheelbase.  The drivers seat might be too high though. Otherwise using that rotting TR might also help pass IVA: only the body has been changed.

The other tricky bit is getting the steering column past the engine.

There's quite a bit of good build footage on the Wheeler Dealers Youtube channel. Including Ant's first test drive . . .

(Mercifully, Mike Brewer doesn't appear again after the first 3 minutes! :D)
