RogerH
Hi Folks, for some mad reason a while ago I started doing Sudoku puzzles. Not just finishing but doing them as fast as possible. Then along came a giant version in the Saturday Telegraph. It has 5 boxes (9x9 squares in each) interlaced. They give you some starter numbers and off you go. They can be a devil to get finished - especially where the centre box shares with its neightbour. Anyway, I finished it in pretty good time - But!!! although it is correctly complete it does not agree with the answer on the back page. My concern is - if they give you apprx 10% of the numbers up front can there be another answer ???????? Roger
iain
I think you have answered that yourself Roger..... Iain
SeanF
Yes there can. I used to buy the times every morning at the station just to do the sudoku. The challenge was to get the hardest one finished before the train pulled into East Croydon.
ianc
This sort of activity can seriously damage one's brain! I'll stick to the cryptic crossword in the Torygraph as that gives me sufficient problems. Ian Cornish
tthomson
In doing soduko, a friend of mine looks for patterns of numbers, e.g 4,5,6 or 7,8,9 etc. I challenged him to find any soduko that holds a magic square, Currently neither he nor I have found one. RogerH
Hi Tony, I've heard of people using patterns but I don;t understand that approach. As for 'magic squares' it must happen but I've never looked for them. Roger
