John Morrison
So, looking through the items I have, on this long term rebuild. I find I do not the original 3A temp guage. Quick scoot around the usual suspects shows non around, so a question for you clever types, would converting to TR4 type electric guage, only require the sender, the guage, a voltage regulator and some cable? Or am I missing something? Cheers, John.
RobH
Yes that's all you would need John. Caerbont Automotive Instruments advertise new original-type ones (third from the bottom), but don't mention prices: https://www.smiths-instruments.co.uk/triumph
openroad
Hi John, have sent you an email, i may have one....there were various changes , so would like to see a picture, as i am not certain. All the best, Conrad.
Charlie D
John, Although it will work, as you describe, I have a feeling that the TR4 gauge looks different to the 3A one. The needle is half hidden on the 4-6 and on the 2-3A it is fully exposed. Just a small difference, but you may feel that it mucks up the symmetry of the dash. j-eichert
There are very early TR4 gauges with the "old" design - they do look like the TR3 capillary instrument. But these instruments are quite rare - up to CT15053 (RHD) and CT11307(LHD) Regards, Johannes
Ian Vincent
I might (stress the word 'might') have one in the garage that you can get rebuilt, if I've got one it will be minus its capilliary tube. Do you want me to have a look? Rgds Ian
North London Mike
Early TR4, top hung gauge, electric (for reference). I later had a Voltmeter built to match
