Xmas6
Hi all. Having made the decision to go dot5 silicone brake fluid on my ‘6 can anyone guide me on the required capacity for the brake and clutch systems? The systems are “new” so no (hopefully) no flushing required. Cheers Neil
RogerH
Hi Neil, 1Ltr should be enough. After filling and initial bleeding allow the system to settle for a day or so and re-bleed. DOT5 likes to hang onto its bubbles. Roger
ctc77965o
As Roger says, 1 litre enough. Since it doesnt absorb water, there's little reason to not recycle the bled fluid...just wait for the jam jar to clear & pour the clean-looking stuff back in the master cyl...I am no fan of DOT5, but that does seem to be one advantage...recyclability.... :-)
Waldi
I ordered 2L from Moss, but needed less than 1L, still spare enough for venting, purging. Waldi
RogerH
My next door neighbour, knowing that I had just decorated the living room, asked how many rolls of wall paper I had bought. 9 rolls I said. A week later the neighbour cornered me and said he bought 9 rolls of wall paper but had 4 rolls left over, yet we have the same sized rooms. Funny that, I said. I also had 4 rolls left over Roger
