rob7
Hi are the plastic or fibreglass replacement gear box covers a good fit or is there a lot of messing about Rob
boxofbits
Hi Rob Ive just fitted a Racetorations fibreglass 2 piece cover. It’s a mould taken from the original fibreboard design, but you still need to drill holes for the bolts into the floor and around the front flange and centre inner flanges. The rear section comes away separately allowing access to propshaft, and overdrive solenoid etc, and a separate cover for the speedo drive. It does fit well but drilling the holes is time consuming. I stuck a drill up from beneath the car then filed holes to suit. The self tappers provided are okay, though I put spire nuts around the join of front and rear sections so the screws wouldn’t eventually strip out the threads.
