ronhatch
Hi all, I'm pondering hood storage in the boot, my thoughts are either place the hood on the spare tyre and the cover it with a suitable piece of plywood on a couple of runners to stop pressure damage or some sort of plywood lid attached to the boot frame. Has anybody done this ? any thoughts, advice or photos would be helpful. Regards Ron
AndyR100
Nothing special here.... either folded in the boot or on the car - I have seen a US-based car with a well-made slim wooden box in the boot that was used to store the cover when not in use. ...... MikeF
Most of the time I just take care to fold the hood per the driver's manual , (meaning the windows are not folded and are protected inside the finished article) and never place anything on top of it in boot. For winter periods of storage I erect the hood, but don't fully tension it.
james christie
For my 3A I made a variant on the slim wooden box - a very large pillow case made from a fairly robust synthetic tissue that I sowed together(well she did). Have done more or less the same thing for the sidescreens. It isn’t totally idiot proof but the arrangement works well james
AndyR100
This is the wooden container I mentioned earlier .... courtesy of the f/book ...... Andy
Quicksilver
The Triumph TR4 (Soft Top) model had a unique Hood Frame Storage Area integrated into the Bulkhead Area. Most of the time I just take care to fold the hood per the driver's manual, and store it behind the seats or if it is for a longer time behind the trimpannel by the fuel tank causing. Marcel. NickKerfoot
I'm pretty sure the drivers manual will have you remove the hood from a '4, not stuff it behind the trim panels...
JeffR
The TR4 soft top can be folded and placed inside the rear seat back for storage. That is why the original seat back is hollow. Cheers, JEFFR
Quicksilver
@ Jeffr, indeed, that was what I meant. Thanks. Marcel.
