Robert Wilsher
I’ve recently replaced my Fuel pump and installed the new one between the boot side panel and the chassis. I have a new 40 amp 4 pin relay and not sure how to connect it up including the inertia switch. Can someone point me to an easy to understand wiring diagram/plan to help with this... cheers Rob
RobH
Assuming the old wiring is still there, take the old pump power feed wire to 85 on the relay (that should already come from the ignition switch and go via the inertia switch if you have one now ). 86 goes to earth 87 is power to the pump motor 30 should be wired through a 30-Amp fuse and connected to battery live if you have a voltmeter fitted. If you have an ammeter the connection should be to the alternator side of the meter instead of battery live, otherwise the the ammeter will show the pump current as a charge all the time. The pump will also require an earth connection of course. The new wires connected to 87 and 30 and the earth connection on the pump should be beefy, to minimise voltage drop - at least 4.5mm^2 copper.
