PI fuel pump relay connections?

Recommended Posts

Assuming the old wiring is still there, take the old pump power feed wire to 85 on the relay  (that should already come from the ignition switch and go via the inertia switch if you have one now ).

86 goes to earth

87 is power to the pump motor

30  should be wired through a 30-Amp fuse and connected to battery live if you have a voltmeter fitted. If you have an ammeter the connection should be to the alternator side of the meter instead of battery live, otherwise the the ammeter will show the pump current as a charge all the time.

The pump will also require an earth connection of course.

The new wires connected to 87 and 30  and the earth connection on the pump should be beefy, to minimise voltage drop - at least 4.5mm^2 copper.
