nigelcurry
Hi all can anyone tell me where I would get a break down of removing the doors from my 72 car including door panels please regards
PodOne
Hi not a hard job. Just undo the door checks, mark around the hinges with a pen and remove the six hinge bolts. The place the door on a soft surface and begin the strip it down taking lots of pics to aid reassembly. Best of luck Andy
nigelcurry
Hi sorry Andy,I think I know where/what the check plates are but can you confirm my thoughts please regards nige
Graham J
The check plates/straps are the items between the A pillar and the front of the door, between the two hinges.
nigelcurry
Ok I’ve asked the wrong question!! so if Andy has put me right on the check straps, then my next question is where are the two hinges in question, and are they accessible if I remove the seats and carpet and do I need to remove the dash board. thanks guys
PodOne
The hinges are external and can be better accessed simply by removing the check straps to give more space and removing the six bolts from the hinges just protect the paint. The other six holding the hinge to the A post will need the trim removing to get at. The dash can stay in situ. Just remove the ones to the door as it will then be much easier lining everything back up.
