hmmm.....,

there seems to be something wrong with my question, with my suggestion - or with me?

Or is this the "silence at the forest" (Germany saying = the moment before the thunderstorm)

Ahh if a tree falls in the forest and nobody is there is there any noise ? Your suggestion seems sound to me Marco, maybe they are all trying out variations of it to establish "the truth" can they handle "the truth"  ?

hmmmm, the "image" is some kind of different:

at the forest there are always noises, only not the moments before a thunderstorm.

Example: you come home and your wife does not speek any word with you.

This could be "the silence at the forest"

Dear Triumph friends

Too hot to walk in the forest let alone driving the triumph.

still investigating your  suggestions and ideas.

I will come back with my findings

My TR4A has NO electric fan and is  anyway dieseling some times.

I added 2 petrol valves direct in front of the jets and always switch off the pertrol while the ingnition on still switched on.

That's what most produces did at least from the 1970-ies, this works lovely

and should be much easier to do on a PI with it's electroc fuel pump and no float chamber.

TR friends

Just a summary of my latest experiences.

So far:

Ignition key off

:0(zero) volt on the ignition coil.

So no “running-on”

As I was not sure if the pump was always stopping replaced pump relay (only 9 amp) as a precaution. Points are burned-in (see picture) the relay might stick sometimes with power switched off.

causing “dieseling” with glowing spark plugs/carbon parts.

Last Wednesday a hot day (25 C) made a day trip of 230 km.

1. Engine is running super. Starts well even hot.

2.Pump (Bosch0580464126) does not suffer from cavitations.

3. Ignition key off: engine stops immediately!!

4. Spark plugs(W7LTCR) inspected at home. Chocolate brown. 5 and 6 slightly more black.

Perhaps replacing by (W8LTCR).

5. So no lean mixture causing hot running and afterglowing spark plugs.

Conclusion:

The long drive has benefited the engine and (perhaps)burned carbon residues.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

Happy PI driver and a happy wife because there is no gasoline smell in the trunk.

All hoses replaced by Gates Barricade GreenShield Fuel Hose Type 4219.

Greetings Ben

Good news Ben! And nice you were able to find this fault, not easy.

I have one type of relais for all applications, 30A, each relais is fused through a “baseplate“ with fuse.

Cheers,

Waldi
