Jase
Been battling with the engine just not feeling free revving enough at higher speeds. I also need to adjust the mixture (job for tomorrow) on my Zenith carbs, choke literally only needs to be out for about 30 seconds and the plugs aren’t the correct colour. Anyway, back to the revving issue, adjusted my fan belt today and noticed that the vacuum pipe wasn’t attached to the carb, hey presto, fitted and a huge difference. Thought it might be useful for someone. Thanks Edited July 20, 2020 by Jase
Jase
If I’m running an electric fan can I remove the extension from the pulley for the fan that sits over the stwering rack? Thanks
Nobbyc
Removed mine 12 years ago. Just need suitable replacement bolt and and thick washer.
Tr4aJim
FYI - Not to put a stick in a hornets nest, but there is considerable debate whether a harmonic balancer is required if the fan extension piece is removed. Jim
ianc
Many of us with the good old 4 pot TR2/3/4 engine have removed the mechanical fan in favour of an electric fan, and have not worried about a harmonic balancer. Neil Revington says not to bother, and he knows a great deal more than most of us. Ian Cornish
james christie
Been running my 3A without a mechanical fan for over 30 years. Madame bust the crankshaft 40 years ago on the prom at La Baule and at that time it did have one. Draw your own conclusion! james
