qkingston
Is there a special tool for tightening the Bendix Spring retaining nut on the TR4a Starter Motor? Thank you David
Z320
Hi, I wanted to help David, we are in contact by PM, but I only know the starters with a washer and ring clip. Sorry, photo deleted because of limited memory But it seems they also have been built with a castled nut and clivis pin? For the castled nut and clivis pin the nut can only be tightend to the next drill for the clivis pin. So a special torque or tool makes no sence? qkingston
and this is what mine looks like. How much does that end nut need to be tightened and what tool is needed? Rgds David
ChrisR-4A
Until you can get a split pin through the hole, by which position the spring should be just tight enough so it doesn't rattle, I think. Chris Edited July 14, 2020 by ChrisR-4A
