Do Italias really have front drum brakes? This one does. It says so.

I don't get it, even if one had the reddies, why bother buying a TR4 for 3 to 4 times the money, only for its restyling? Appealing to "collectors"?

If you dont get it then fine, Think TR5 but more exclusive.

Sure, but there is a notable difference. A TR5 is a Michelotti TR with a six-cylinder engine, as opposed to Karman TR6. You get more. Same design as before. The novelty is the engine. In both cases, rarity becomes a value too.

I mean VFM is down to value, as in its surplus value. Stripped down to its actual exchange value, if you take away exclusivity, what else is there with the Italia?

Hand built Italian car but with TR underpinnings. Thats the whole point.

There is a man looking out to the sea, gazing at the horizon.

He has something in his eye.

In his hand he holds a bee.

What is in his eye?

The answer is “Beauty”.

(Beauty is in the eye of the bee-holder.)

To me, that is why the Italia is worth so much more money than a TR4.

If I had the money, I’d buy it,

Just for its beauty.

A great looking car. Simple British mechanical parts with an elegant Italian body, an Alfa Romeo without the inherent problems but at a big premium. You could buy a TR and an Alfa for that price.

According to the website it was sold for £125,000, inc premiums etc - I think.

Post auction I imagine as it didn't reach reserve at bidding.

that is a very high price in comparison , last one to sell in the UK was also red and a far better restored car with all the correct parts , and 5k Less as well

i think if one of the top cars that have all the correct parts comes to market I think we will a 200k italia
