Tim T
Am looking to fit the TR4a type chrome pull handles on my 5 but the spire nut fixings appear to be unavailable from Moss etc. Obviously I could just self tap into the door panel through the door card but ideally would like to source something more suitable. Does anybody have a source for suitable spire nuts or have a better fixing solution please. Many thanks, Tim
Upriis
eBay item 254636568608 purchased a set myself very recently, came next day
Ian Vincent
When I was doing a similar mod to my TR3a I was recommended to use rivnuts. As it happens I found an alternative solution that didn’t require a special tool but it did call for a bit of welding. Rgds Ian

RobH
Those actually look like cage nuts. Will any of these fit? https://www.bresco.com/acatalog/Cage-Nuts--including--J--Type-.html Edited July 8, 2020 by RobH
Tim T
You are quite correct they are cage nuts. The ones on the Bresco site are all too big for the existing housing of 6mm. But I have found some Jack nuts which if I enlarge the 6mm square hole to 8mm diameter will work perfectly - I think. So, many thanks for all contributions as usual. RogerH
Hi Tim, That particular spire nut has not been available for a long time now. For me the neatest answer was to use M4 rivnuts. You can get the domed screw from here Domed screw Roger

Tim T
... and they still have some! Thanks, Tim
Andy Moltu
You can use M4 cage nuts. Grind down to fit the slots in the door and either use M4 screws or tap to take correct thread to match original.
Rob Salisbury
Just done this job, M3 cage nuts fit the door slots perfectly, no mods needed, just remove the inserts before hand to drill and tap to whatever screws you are using (all too wobbly if you leave the inserts in the cage).
