RogerH
Hi Folks, a few weeks ago somebody posted, on the TR5 forum I think, that their internal door handle was fouling on the door card. The top of the mechanism was poking above the door card. I can;t now find the thread. here is a pic of how it should look Roger
stillp
That was Peter VW's thread, I think it was in General Technical. His car is a 5 though, which has a different mechanism to the 4A. Pete

RogerH
Hi Peter, have you got it to fit better than your original pictures.? Roger
Peter V W
Hi Roger, Having removed the 5 stick on door pulls ( which may hide the door mechanism ) and retro fitted 4 door pulls. Used the old spring ( shortened) under the door release handle. No improvement. The new door card has more flexibility than my old door card, all so the mechanism prevents a door card clip at that location.
tr graham
Peter the mechanism is bolted in the wrong place , should be the same as Rogers picture . graham
Peter V W
Graham, Original door card shown in photo below, I have not moved the door handle. Peter
ntc
Peter Is you’re new card fitted to far forward?
Geko
Design flaw. If you google pictures of other TR5 door cards you'll see that they all tend to have this gap on that location. It's somewhat hidden on those cars equipped with the door top finisher. I suspect that removing the pull handle will contribute to close that gap a bit. Peter V W
I think if I reduce the spring length by half, leaving enough pressure to retain the pin in the handle it should be OK. thanks for your comments. Peter V W
RogerH
Hi Peter, the pin is retained by the escutcheon (it is ion the 4/4A). You be able to remove the spring completely Roger
