Moliver
Hi There, I have been able to get an original 1953 TR 2 Instruction booklet and have just spotte something that confuses me: It says (on page 19), that the 3 prop shaft nipples shall be lubricated with oil every 5k miles. It says "Grease must not be used". On all of my cars, I have always and only used a grease gun .... What is your advise and expericence ? Regards Oliver
ianc
As I have been doing on TRs for 60 years, use Castrol LM grease on all grease nipples, including trunnions. Ian Cornish
John McCormack
Modern greases are OK in my view. Not everyone will agree but I have owned my daily driver TR2 since 1976. I've used grease on all nipples and bearings including trunnions. I pulled the front suspension apart a couple of years ago to replace the inner bushes and the trunnions were fine and well greased. They will have done in excess of 100,000 miles since they were installed in the early 80s.
