John Morrison
Hi All, in teh family we have a 12 plate Suzuki Swift with about 30,000 on teh clock. Was my father-in-laws, before he passed away. Just recently it has got temperamental on starting. Twice when parked it would not fire, wait tem minutes and was back on teh button. Once now it cut out whilst driving, same thing wait ten minutes and started fine, and ran well for a week now. Any clues anyone, before I go and buy one of then OBD Thingys? John. HSM
Common fault crank sensor, should be cheaper than a code reader. Harvey S. Maitland
Rodbr
Hi John, Bring it up and we can put it on my OBD11 reader and check the faults. Ours had a problem with the tiny cables on the electronic injector rail connections. The reader gives an accurate starting point and also can cancel fault codes. Social distancing not a problem. Nigel Triumph
OBD2 code readers that bluetooth to a smart phone or tablet are available for around £10. They are great for reading and clearing engine fault codes on OBD2 equipped moderns (that's everything from about 2000). A limitation with these cheapies is they can't usually deal with ABS or airbag faults but they are definitely worth the money for scanning engine faults. Nigel
