Jase
Looking at my front wings today. I’m guessing these pop rivets shouldn’t be there?
NigelH
Hi Jase Might there have been inner wing protectors fitted at some time in its life? Nigel H
ctc77965o
is there something bolted inside the wheelarch?
John Morrison
Hi Jase, short answer is no, the screws should hold the inner wing to the outer wing. It may be that a previous owner tried to 'Flatten' the inner wing, though it should not be necessary. I too wondered about the nuts and bolts through the wheelarch? John. Lebro
I think the top of the inner wing was badly rusted, & previous owner riveted a strip of metal to give the outer wings something to connect to. is that filler covering the join ?? (I did just this in the 1970's ) All correct now though. Bob.

Thanks, so when I am ready to remove the wing I’ll need to drill these out?
Phil Read
Sorry I have been looking at the wrong thing. It was the bolts on the inner wing I commented on. The outer wing itself has been patched.
Jase
There does seem to be quite a bit of filler across there which I have now chipped away, weird as it seems it was only put there to hide the screws? All the metal seems sound, guess I'll find out more when I remove one of the wings
stillp
I hope that goes well for you. My front wings had been tack welded on (why???) but in doing so they'd burnt the paint off leading to rust, so the welds were hanging in the air! Pete
Jase
Me too Pete seems solid and I’m planning on a rolling restoration, wish me luck
