Waldi
No problem Michael, we all benefit from this forum (I do!) Cheers, Waldi
Waldi
I promised some feedback on the PQI for the bonnet catch earlier, so here it is: 6 well known UK suppliers were contacted by the PQI team, and 4 suppliers responded and these 4 were all very positive about acknowledging shortcomings in the design. One leading supplier will submit appropriate design changes for future runs, so my personal impression is very positive, but many items on the market (in ware houses) currently will still be sold, so ask before you buy, or be prepared to see it fail soon. One supplier also indicated he has seen many hooks bent where this is “owner induced” (by incorrect closing of the bonnet) which certainly does not help and I understand but he also acknowledges the peening of the pin is not sufficient. 2 suppliers have not responded yet to the PQI team request. With this post I would also like to acknowlegde Roger (RogerH) and Ian (cvtrian) for their continued effort to improve parts quality for our cars! Waldi
Scotland Director
Waldi, Thanks for your update, hopefully my misfortune can ultimately turn to something positive if we can get a part that’s fit for purpose. Thank you and everyone that contributed on this topic, maybe you might circle back at some point with good news ? The forum is a truly magnificent tool, thanks John and crew. Waldi Can we see ( Forum) a revised design in the form of a drawing before we sign off the revised design and go into production? Waldi
Hi Bruce, wouldn’t that be nice. Think we will have to wait until the improved items arrive in the shops. From a supplier perspective I can imagine they will not disclose this to public for several reasons. Cheers, Waldi
