Dash assy sequence

Recommended Posts

Hi all - I’ve refinished the dash and recovered the crash pads & dash top and am about to assemble it all.

My query is if there is a “sequence” in refitting the tin dash, crash pads and wooden plank?

All hints and pointers gratefully received.

Cheers and keep safe Neil

Hi Neil,

I am just doing the same on a 4A.

Fit the crash pads to the metal dash.

Attach metal dash to the bulkhead/plenum structure.  5 screws along the top. A hex head screw at either end.  Ther steering column support brackets

Fit the small gauges to the wooden dash and get the wiring as neat as possible.

If you removed the separate small console with the wiper switch etc sort that out and fit.

Fit the glove box and lower support

Offer the wooden dash to the metal dash.   Connect the wiring as best as possible. Again try and keep this neat and tidy and in a logical order.

Assuming you have no loose wires you could power it up and make sure things are working before it all goes back

If all is good, disconnect the battery and fit the wooden dash.

Roger
