john.r.davies
I know they are termed "field hospitals" but at least they are not tents!

Andy The NEC is already on the list of possible field hospitals, as is the the GMEX centre in Manchester and three other major venues around the country. Rooms in the Royal palaces simply aren't big enough to cater for the scale being envisaged by the nhs but the are plenty of aircraft hangars that could be utilised either as hospital or temporary morgues. I'm afraid this is going to get worse before it gets better. hoges.
Paul Hogan
On a slightly different theme did anyone see the film CONTAGION on ITV last night? Was that good scheduling or was ITV being rather crass showing it at this time? Personally I thought it was a very good film and seeing as how people can react it might actually convince some people to stay at home. Hoges.

JohnG
Gents and Ladies This from another forum, in answer to the same question Sort of nails it, I think; The short answer: the most likely explanation is that which was predicted by researchers from the University of Hong Kong in an article published in 2007 by the American Society of Microbiolgy, who concluded: "The presence of a large reservoir of SARS-CoV-like viruses in horseshoe bats, together with the culture of eating exotic mammals in southern China, is a time bomb. The possibility of the reemergence of SARS and other novel viruses from animals or laboratories and therefore the need for preparedness should not be ignored."
