boxofbits
Hi All I was hoping to replace the overdrive solenoid rubber gaiter on my TR4a which has perished. This is not the top solenoid cover but rather the gaiter which covers the plunger part of the solenoid. The remains of the old one seem to locate in the solenoid mounting as a seating for the solenoid ,though I can’t see this item in the parts manual. Any idea if this is available as a separate item from Moss or from any other suppliers? Thanks Kevin
james christie
If you find somebody who will sell you the gaiter without the solenoid shout high and low on the forum - but let me know first James

Roger Thanks Roger that's a good idea, and I've been using a lot of those lately for the g/box rebuild ( probably something else you won't be able to get much longer due to Coronavirus hoarders!). I suppose it's only to shield it against water/road dirt. James I will shout out if I find one. It's the kind of thing you might find one day on one of those sites like the Bresco's etc maybe? james christie
Thanks to Peter I just ordered one. I would have liked to order two but they limited me - sign of the times I suppose ! They don’t like furrin addresses either so had to use a UK address. james
Nigel C
I'm with Roger on this one as I like to think the "Blue finger seal" (although mine is grey!) would do a better job and offers very little resistance to the operation of the plunger
boxofbits
Hi All Just to update on the solenoid plunger from bighealey.co.uk it works and fits fine but is slightly longer by about 1/8” so to get the required throw on the solenoid plunger will need filing down, but otherwise good.
