Overdrive Solenoid Gaiter

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I was hoping to replace the overdrive solenoid rubber gaiter on my TR4a which has perished.

This is not the top solenoid cover but rather the gaiter which covers the plunger part of the solenoid. The remains of the old one seem to locate in the solenoid mounting as a seating for the solenoid ,though I can’t see this item in the parts manual.

Any idea if this is available as a separate item from Moss or from any other suppliers?

Thanks

Kevin

Hi Kev,

I used a finger from a blue garage plastic glove + plastic tie wraps.

Thanks Roger that's a good idea, and I've been using a lot of those lately for the g/box rebuild ( probably something else you won't be able to get much longer due to Coronavirus hoarders!). I suppose it's only to shield it against water/road dirt.

James I will shout out if I find one. It's the kind of thing you might find one day on one of those sites like the Bresco's etc maybe?

Regards

Kevin

I tried the Healey people at the time of my request 2 years ago but they weren’t playing ball and wanted me to buy the solenoid as well.

Maybe things have changed -I hope so

james

I just ran through their web order page and got to the check out ok.  Price was plus £3.95 postage the

n add VAT.

Based on that I would expect them to supply

Cheers
