Seat recovering ... which glue?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm planning on rebuilding my TR6 seats soon.. covers and foam already bought..

but I was just wondering which glue is best (and readily available in the UK)?

looking at the various websites that give instructions, they appear to suggest 3M Super Trim adhesive... but that looks tricky, or get here..

any suggestions would be much appreciated from those that have been here before me!

.. quantity would also be helpful..

many thanks in advance

Richard

I've been using this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trim-Fix-500ml-High-Temperature-Spray-Adhesive-Heat-Resistant-Glue-Van-Lining/112573949873?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=412978949959&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

Just check that whichever product you use is compatible with the seat foam - you wouldn't want to melt the foam due to the solvents.

Richard,

I used this one although I didn't buy it from this supplier.

Used it on lots of applications including hood cover and carpets. Worked very well.

Hi Richie,

this works very well https://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/product/1331/adhesive

I decant it into 50ml jars and stand them upside down. That way you do not waste too much through storage time.

Thats my go to for all trim jobs, works well and will stand the heat that car interiors reach. Also good for hood fitting too.

Stuart.
