Clive Pearce
I am thinking of putting Mazda MX5 seats into my TR8. Are seats of all marks of MX5 compatible? What work is involved in the changing of the seats? Any issues? My TR8 is a genuine TR8 originally left hand drive re-imported from Canada, will this cause any complications? Any comments from those that have done the conversion welcome & appreciated. Summers coming !!! Clive.

I have an NA Miata and the seats are terrible for more than a couple hours. TR7/8 seats in good condition are very comfortable. The MX5 seats do give a bit more support for aggressive driving. DaveR
I have had an MX5 from new and my TR7 seats are far more comfortable. Dave
HowardB
Having spent many hours sitting in original TR7 seats during a number of 48 hr Round Britain Rallies and 10CR events the general consensus is that a well maintained TR7/8 seat is very comfortable and difficult to better with any of the modern seats. The vital point is that it must be well maintained with the rubbers and foam in good condition, as the modern rubbers deteriorate quite quickly (5-6 years max). My seats are currently away for rebuilding by a specialist and will be refitted next month, all being well/ Howard
