TwinCamJohn
I need a new diaphragm . I had intended to order from Moss but thought I would check to see if anyone had had quality problems? Wondered if Burlen would be a better bet ? I don't want to be stranded or have to do the job twice.
Lebro
I fitted a pump repair kit (diaphragm, valves, & gaskets) from the TR shop in 2013 - still going strong. Bob.
ianc
I fitted a Moss repair kit, including diaphragm and valves, in 1998. The car still runs! Of course, that's 22 years ago, and I can't say whether current kits perform as well. Ian Cornish
Richardtr3a
I had problems with my fuel pump. I sent it to Dave Davies, 23 Thomas Street, Atherton, Manchester M46 9DP 01909 737 531. He overhauls them and cleans and repairs all parts. It is well worth the cost and he is reliable. I have a second one of his in the boot but never have to get it out. I did have a problem sealing the feed out of the pump to the engine. The olive sits on the very end of the pipe and does not seal well. There is an adapter at the other end ,where the flexible pipe joins on. I fitted the same adapter to the pump end and with a new olive it worked easily, no sealant required. It does need a sharp bend in the pipe which I managed by using and old speedo cable inside the pipe and a pipe bender. It does work. I have not had 22 years out of it yet Richard & B

If you do need it it doubles or triples the cost of the kit and may be hard to find. Last I knew, TRF had the kit with the seal. I've also used the Moss kit without issues but their kit does not have that seal. Tom
TwinCamJohn
Thanks for the comments. Finally, I have ordered from Moss. The shaft seal is in good condition so not needed.
spillman
+1 for Dave Davies (see above). I sent him a broken fuel pump, which I expected him to repair. The same day he received it, he phoned me to say he was not going to repair “ this chinese junk”!! Fair enough. He supplied a refurbished British unit, for a very reasonable price, and looked like new. It has performed perfectly since fitting about 3 years ago.
TwinCamJohn
Mine is going, I was just checking it out and thought the diaphragm looked tired and it seemed a good moment to renew it. Hope the Moss ones aren't Chinese poo.
Richardtr3a
Stick with Dave Davies and get the work done properly by a specialist who knows what he is doing. It looks as if Chinese parts will be less available soon. I am sorry for them but we need quality parts. It is embarrassing to break down in a TR and the quality parts are worth the extra. Send your pump off to him. Good luck, Richard & B.
