Advice on the Rimmers, Britparts TR Chassis

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have experience of the replacement chassis available through Rimmers?

It is made in the UK by Britparts and considerably cheaper than the CTM option.

I am considering buying one and would welcome any comments from anyone who has used one.

Equally if you have used another option I haven't mentioned and can recommend it please let me know.

Many thanks

Tim

Hi  Tim, I don't know about the Brit parts chassis but I do know you get what you pay for..  Having seen Colin at work at his CTM chassis  company that would be my choice if I needed a new chassis. CTM invested a lot of time in making sure the jigs are correct  and if you need a replacement chassis then you need to know that it is correct in every detail.  I'm not saying the other one isn't as good as the CTM offering but if it is substantially cheaper than CTM's then you needs to ask why is that.  I do believe CTM have quite a long lead time for new orders so much will depend on how quickly you need it.

Hi Tim,

there was a long thread about CTM closing. It appears that Colin has gone off to France but it is still operating..

Not sure of the exact facts but we now appear to have a number of chassis suppliers - Revington, Rimmer CTM.........

If the quality is the same as their replacement Spring bridges then I wouldnt bother, we discussed this a while ago on here, too thin and the wrong shape.https://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/71199-new-chassi-birdge-right-or-wrong/

FWIW theyre listed as NLS anyway.

Stuart.
