Camshaft change

Recommended Posts

Guys

I will shortly be changing cam followers on my 4a and at the same time am thinking about changing the camshaft to either a Newman PH 1 or Piper TR3BP270 as

they seem to be almost similar for road use, does the front camshaft carrier need any  machining  to allow for correct free play?

You will need to check the front bearing gives the correct end float for your  chosen cam. I used a Kent “hi torque” cam which I find very tractable. Also ensure your new followers can freely rotate in their bores.
