john.r.davies
The lesson I'd like emphasised is, "Motorsport is a NON-contact sport". In the twenty years I been in it, I've seen scrupulous avoidance descend into literally dodgem car bumping and boring. Two years ago, I was "overtaken" by a much faster car on the approach to Druids. They were lapping me and could have passed me easily after the corner, but instead just pushed through on the inside, causing not structural but severe cosmetic damage. In the paddock afterwards, their attitude was worse than non-apologetic, it was threatening, as crew members squared up to me in response to my, "Please don't do that again.". An unpleasant person to know is on the grid with you.
