Wing sealant

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I know this has been covered before but i can't find any recent posts.

What is the best way and name of the sealant to use between the wings?

I have seen 3m, various silicone/mastic type products etc etc but i am hoping there is one product that is tried and tested,

looks good and stands head and shoulders above others.

Many Thanks,

Nick

I'm about to do this job & using this stuff:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Windscreen-Sealer-Window-Sealant-Black-310ml-car-van-/371592868637

I'm sure others will have their own preferences but this is non setting & also for bolt on panels...

+1 this is the same stuff I used on my rear wing, make sure you have gloves and a cloth to clean up with.

Use White Spirit on a rag to wipe off excess from panels. Works a treat if you have 2pack paint.

My TR6 rear light clusters on the top sides, and the rear side panels to top body panel are sealed with a "black non setting" putty. I was given a small "marble sized" sample by the restorer and told the name, but sadly now long forgotten. Great stuff and easy to use.

Would love to know what the trade name is so I can obtain some more, Colin.

Yes that`s the stuff -  thanks, I prefer the putty to the silicon type gun tube type, I`ll have a look to find it.

Colin.

This question has come up before:

The link in that thread to Woolies might help.

This stuff is made for applications like this.  It does not harden.  I used it on my TR6.
