Hi All,

I am trying with little success to source a chrome exhaust tail end for my 1955 TR2.The outside dimension is 48mm .

Does anyone have a suggestion as to a supplier.

I included this item in the Moss catalogue. HRTT9177

https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/extension-tail-pipe-chrome-2-hrtt9177.html

It is not the same as the original NOS item I have as that is a diagonal slash cut outlet end and made from anodised aluminium.   Some one did a stainless item once and I have a sample somewhere.  I changed it for the aluminium one which looks so much better.

No doubt some searching on the sales sites would turn up another design. https://exhaustpartsuk.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1516_1517_1277&products_id=844

cheers

Roger,

If you have a local exhaust specialist (not the Kwikfit type, but one that does custom systems), they can probably find you a piece of stainless made to fit, slash cut and polished up to your liking.

This is exactly what I did using my own supply of stainless steel exhaust tubing.

When I bought my TR3A project in 2010 it had a newish looking chromed exhaust trim fitted. It was the first thing that I removed and the last part that I fitted 6 years later. It was the only part on the car that I did not have to repair, replace or refurbish. It looks just like the Moss part.

FWIW I like the polished Alloy trim piece. You get a really nice raspy crisp exhaust note from the tail with one fitted. With care you an achieve a mirror finish that looks well.

Easy to make and polish. length of alloy pipe cut before polishing and then progressively finer wet and dry and a final polish on a polishing wheel .
