Ocheye
Hi all I tend not to use my heater as the fan is very rattly, though it does seem to work. Is this an easy fix, I assume it is a bearing issue? I don't want to have to remove the dash if I can avoid it! I manage reasonably well with the scuttle vent open so it isn't a pressing matter but I would like to have it fully (and quietly) working one day Andy
RogerH
Hi Andy, it is a common problem. Usually just 'rattling' on start up for a moment and then getting worse. The bad news is the heater has to come out to sort the motor. This can be done with the dash insitu - but a right bugger. When out some folk replace with a more modern heater (Clayton). However when cleaned out these original heaters are very good. Roger Edited December 10, 2019 by RogerH
silverfox4
Sad as it may sound, I am removing the Clayton heater and reverting back to my original heater which I am now in the process of rebuilding. The Clayton heater was causing too much grief for my liking, but I am probably just anal.. Alf
