Why can't you fit LED bulbs to your lamps.

The TRR club insurance scheme providers have clearly stated that they are happy and it will not invalidate the insurance.

The MOT testers are happy to pass them.

As long as they point the right way and are bright enough then all is OK.

Our cars effectively pre-date the regulations so as far as the law is concerned the type of bulb doesn’t apply.

I don’t know if the wattage figures apply but 55w filament bulb puts out lots less light than LEDs or HIDs.

They have to beset not to dazzle oncoming traffic but that’s about it.

The current regulations allow fitting of LED bulbs to anywhere on our cars except headlamps & indicators.

For these two items only the regs state a minimum wattage, which, as LED bulbs are so much more efficient, they can not meet the requirement.

However, if one reads the spirit of the regulations, it clearly meant "effective" wattage, & LED lamps certainly meet or exceed that requirement.

I have LED bulbs everywhere on my TR3 & I do not worry about it.

Bob.
