rogerowen
Can anyone tell me what I should expect on a cold engine, at starter motor cranking speed? THANKS.
Motorsport Mickey
Nothing...other than looking for about the same (within 10-15 per cent) across all the cylinders. Remember to do the test with the carb pistons lifted and the throttle fully depressed. The compression ratio of the engine and various other factors make giving a 180 reading or suchlike fairly meaningless, obviously if you get 65 we'll need to talk lol. Always worth doing a "wet" comp test immediately afterwards (inject 5-10 cc of engine oil into each bore) to see if all the cylinders react the same.
